THE BISTRO

The Bistro is a modern, casual and affordable restaurant run by VCC culinary instructors and students. They are looking for new logo, new takeout menu, and promotional items for their newest grab-and-go feature that is catered towards VCC students and employees. 
CHALLENGE
Promote the grab-and-go feature by redesigning the logo and  takeout menu that contains attractive colour with straight forward design that can be easily readable for everyone.

STRUGGLE
The client wanted us to be creative, and I happened to played around too much with illustration rather than focusing on the actual brand's message.
SOLUTION
After multiple logo revisions, I decided to take out all the unnecessary symbols and illustrations to create simplified design yet, kept the idea of rounder form to emphasize smoother and welcoming feeling.
Additionally, I purposely used two different typefaces to create this MODERN + CLASSIC design. Used serif typefaces "Bodoni 72" to show authenticity of the brand and used script typeface "Bickham Script" to create impression of playful and movement to the design to present the idea of fast shift takeout system.
Lastly, fork & knife icon was illustrated in form of "X" to identify "Ready to Eat" feature.
FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY
The purpose of this photoshoot was to take a photograph of their actual product "food" that can be used in both menu, posters and advertisements.
I wanted the food too look visually appetizing yet show audience that they are well made food. Therefore, I took extra care on setting the plates, lightings (studio & natural lights) and edited with Lightroom for first touch and photoshop after to show quality food.
TAKE-OUT MENU
The client wanted to have takeout menu that contains attractive colour with straight forward design that can be easily readable for everyone. Therefore, I created multiple variation to see the clarity, legibility and use of point colour. 
As a result, this black textured background with highlighted texts in colour orange and white stood out the most and got selected by peers as one of the candidate for The Bistro instructor and students to take a look.
SOCIAL MEDIA ADS + PROMO ITEMS
The goal for this application was to make it visually appetizing and highlight fresh food with great price are open to customer with grab and go feature.​​​​​​​
